Been going through a lot of old photos lately. This one dates back to the newborn ages of Mr. Fox. This was during my straight hair phase/do whatever I can to look decent while raising a son completely on my own phase. Think I was doing pretty dang good. It’ll be interesting to see what happens when the next kiddo arrives. I have roughly 2 1/2 months left until heat arrives.

For moms with special needs kids on Valentine’s Day... To the mom with a non-verbal child: your little love cares for you more deeply than they can say, but they will show you that love. To the mom with a high-function kiddo: They may be crazy-bouncing-off-the-walls-hyper all the time but that’s just because they cannot contain their love for you. To the mom with immobile kids: when your kiddo looks into your eyes they’re heart is doing circles around you. To the mom with a blind child: they may not see your love but they feel it with every bone in their body. What does style mean to you? Is it a representation of your identity or is it some thingThat you utilize to honoring your body? Style means a lot of different things for a lot of different people and I’m pretty sure we are not supposed to be defining what peoples style is supposed to be. As stylists we provide the tools our clients need in order to understand how to find their style and develop it. Innoway we are therapists, psychologists, and people of deep intuition. For me, my style is typically a reflection of my mood. There are days where my confidence is soaring and I’ll focus on creating an outfit that embodies confidence. Other days I might be really tired and feeling sluggish so I’ll wear some comfy leggings and a cute top. in the end it doesn’t matter whether your style is cute, chic, casual, or just for you. Your style is you and how you feel about your style is what matters the most.

I don’t take time off. For ten years I have worked day and night, seven days a week, 360 days a year, and I’m f*cking over it. Working this much has NOT brought me closer to happiness. It has made me money, it has given me the ability to financially support Fox’s therapy needs, but to my own physical and mental detriment. I’m taking time off from my business for a the next few weeks. I’m taking the pressure off myself, I’m throwing a middle finger in the air, and turning my back on social media for a while. Social media is toxic. Imagine having it be your only job for ten years. Ten years of living the lie that “social media never sleeps.” Well, for the next few weeks it will. For the next few weeks I’m choosing me and ending this bullshit popularity contest that is the social media hustle. In 2021 you can expect me to be available to teach you about social media. This bump is bumpin’. I am officially four months today and my cravings include chicken and waffles with peanut butter and hot sauce. To be perfectly honest right now...being pregnant at this moment in time sucks. I have hit peak morning sickness and am only capable of moving after noon. It’s really hard and nothing I have tried is working. Here’s everything I’ve tried: Ginger root Ginger tea Ginger candies Preggie pops Lemon and water B6 B12 BRAT diet Unisom Sea sick medicine Cold compress Massage And probably more I can’t think of. There are so many women in the world who experience morning sickness. There’s an even smaller percentage of women who experience hyperemesis gravidarum. There are only 200,000 cases per year. In 2012/2013 I was one of those women. In this pregnancy, I am determined to not be in that group. But I also can’t control what happens 100%. Taking tiny baby steps to do what works for me in that moment is all I can do. Some may argue that all this sickness isn’t worth it. I won’t say that doesn’t cross my mind occasionally. But I always come back around to the thought of seeing that little baby’s face for the first time, and how I felt with Fox, and I know it will be worth it. Nothing worth having comes easy in life.

Unpopular choice: Sending kids back to school during a pandemic. Here’s the thing though. Ted and I have two kids. Arya and Fox are both in second grade. Both go to the same school, it both have VERY different life situations. Arya is asthmatic like me, and is therefore more high risk for having a worse case of COVID. Fox is perfectly fine. We chose to have Arya continue doing online school at home because she’s capable of staying on task on her own (for the most part). Fox on the other hand, he’s autistic. And while he’s brilliantly minded, he needs to have in-person instruction. He needs in-person therapies. He needs the one-on-one expert attention that I am not qualified to do. It would be okay if Fox didn’t have the needs he does, I could teach both kids at home. But I also have a business to run, a fetus to nourish, and a home to care for. Fox deserves 100% of whoever is teaching him’s attention. At school he gets what he needs. Admitting I couldn’t give him what he needs educationally was hard. But it was the best choice for him. And the best choice for me.

Ted and I are excited to announce we’re adding a little dragon-wizard to our family next year! Ted and I have Fox and Arya we brought into our little tribe and the latest edition is our combo baby! Also, our rainbow baby 🌈. Last year at the height of my Illness we lost a little one and it was such a heart breaking experience. But after a storm, a rainbow appears ❤️.
